As parents, finding a balance between screen time and productive engagement for our little ones can be a challenge. That’s why we’re excited to share a simple activity that could buy you a bit of extra free time, while keeping your children in an engaged learning environment.
Introducing “Endless Paper“. While there are a lot of infinite scroll apps available, this one met our needs based on its functionality and one time purchase price – which came to about $14 Canadian.
Infinite scroll canvases provide an exceptional platform for nurturing creativity and imagination, especially for young minds. With no physical boundaries to confine their workspace, children are able to explore and experiment without the limitations or constraints of traditional paper. Hence, we can zoom in and out for detailing and colouring, while moving around the page as our son’s imagination permits.
Drawing Adventure with Endless Paper
- Setting the Scene Open the “Endless Paper” app and start by setting aside a dedicated space for your toddler’s drawing adventure. We like to date the section to create a personalized touch, and work by drilling in. Over time, we’ll have a bunch of dates like a calendar, with all of his work segmented by his age (and hopefully skill!).
- Guided Drawing Fun Zoom in on the screen and encourage your little one to express their creativity. Ask them what they want to draw, and using a thick pen and their chosen color, create an outline of their chosen subject.
- Swap the Color Let your toddler explore further by selecting a larger marker size and a different color. This will help them distinguish between their lines and yours. Guide them as they trace over the initial outlines, bringing their creation to life with vibrant hues and bold strokes.
Step 4: Endless Delight Once the masterpiece is complete, let your child select their favorite shape or letter. Zoom in until the page fills with white space and start the process anew.
Bonus Ideas: While our son continues to hone his tracing skills, we tend to focus on developmentally appropriate objects like shapes, numbers, letters, and basic clip art designs.
